just 5 ingredients!

What is coffee jelly?

Coffee jelly is exactly as the name suggests. It’s coffee flavoured jelly. It is made from basic ingredients and makes for a very light and refreshing treat!

If you’re looking for new ways to consume coffee then this is the perfect recipe for you! If you don’t like coffee then I suggest you go take a look at my other recipes.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups coffee of your choice, brewed strong
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp gelatin powder
  • 1 cup milk (or your favourite non dairy alternative)
  • 1/4 cup condensed milk
  • optional: additional coffee to create the ombre effect

Steps

As you can tell from the ingredients above, this recipe is very simple and requires basic ingredients. There’s a lot of leeway when it comes to the sweetness, you can decide how much sugar and condensed milk you want to use. The amount provided is to be used as a guide line. If you like foods sweeter, then go ahead and add more sugar and condensed milk.

This recipe makes 4 servings of coffee jelly.

  1. Bloom the gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin over 3/4 cup of cold water. Give it a mix then set it aside for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Microwave the gelatin: The gelatin will be a lump at this point. Place the gelatin in the microwave for 30s to heat it up and turn it back to a liquid. Give it a mix to ensure there’s no lumps.
  3. Make the jelly: In a large bowl (or large measuring cup), combine the gelatin, sugar, and coffee. Mix until the sugar is fully dissolved. If you like your coffee sweeter, now is the time to add more sugar.
  4. Transfer the jelly to a container: Pour the jelly into a rectangular container. Let it chill in the fridge until it’s set. Mine took 4 hours to fully set. This will will differ depending on the size of your container.
  5. Make the sweet milk: While the jelly sets, get started on the sweet milk. Add milk and condensed milk to a large measuring cup then mix until it’s combined. If you like things sweet, add more condensed milk. Cover and let it chill in the fridge until it’s ready to be used.
  6. Cut the jelly into cubes: Once the jelly is fully set, cut it into 1 inch cubes.
  7. Assembly: Place pieces of cubed jelly into a glass then pour the sweet milk overtop. For the ombre effect, pour additional coffee on top of the sweet milk.
  8. ENJOY! Stay caffeinated 🙂
